European cities are undergoing a change that feeds on the power of the people. Citizens who are collectively making their cities by themselves, creating and developing their own social environment and the public good. They start energy cooperations, redevelop public parks, initiate bottom-up care, and more of that kind. During this event, Tine de Moor will give a lecture on the commons and the sharing economy as part of this movement. In a dialogue with Christian Iaione and the audience we will investigate the consequences for the principle of equality as a democratic check and balance and collect the building bricks for a redesign of it.
With Tine de Moor (Professor “Institutions for Collective Action in Historical Perspective”, Utrecht University) and Christian Iaione (LABoratory for the GOVernance of Commons).
The event is in English and entrance is free.
The series is part of the Europe by People programme and FabCity campus, in the framework of the Dutch Presidency from January – July 2016.
