European Neighbours Week

  • Tryater 70 Oostersingel Leeuwarden, FR, 8921 GB Netherlands (map)

Iepen Up, Fryslan2018 and ECF invite you to discover the power of bottom-up programme making in the European Capital of Culture. During the European Neighbours Week, professionals, organisations, makers and experts from all over Europe come to Fryslân. The enticingly broad programme focuses on how we give power to the people and how you can bring about a broad societal change through arts and culture.

During the four-day programme, you can share your experiences with other initiators, take a fresh look at other people’s plans and learn from the way others view your initiative. In Europe we are all neighbours, but we do not live in the same street. So much can still be learned from one another. Because of this, regional and international grassroots projects are invited to meet during the European Neighbours Week, and work together on concrete developments towards a society that is more open, both here and across Europe.

In the broad programme many concrete examples are discussed. We work together on new and existing initiatives, and there will be a lot of space for gaining experiences that are relevant to you specifically. The programme is full of plenary sessions, breakout sessions, theatrical performances, hands-on workshops and exemplary best & worst practices about diversity and inclusiveness.
