Help improve politics in Europe – by participating in the Innovation in Politics Awards!

The Innovation in Politics Awards are looking for the best European politicians. This initiative was started in 2017 by the Vienna-based Innovation in Politics Institute and received hundreds of nominations. A citizen jury of more than 1000 jurors chose eight winners. In its’ second year the Europe-wide awards for exemplary political initiatives are looking for the most courageous and creative political projects in Europe again.

The Innovation in Politics Institute recognises and supports those politicians who have the courage to break new ground, who are creative and achieve real results – regardless of party affiliation and regional level, and based on European values: social balance, democracy and human rights. “We bring their innovative work to the fore, so that it may serve as a source of inspiration.”

The Innovation in Politics Awards are presented in eight categories: Quality of Life, Prosperity, Jobs, Ecology, Civilisation, Democracy, Human Rights, and Community. Besides the core criterion innovation, three other criteria apply to all nominated projects: participation, building trust and sustainability.

How does it work?
From March 2018, elected politicians or every citizen from all 47 countries of the Council of Europe can nominate political initiatives and projects which successfully break new ground. Nominators are invited to fill in an online nomination form, which you can find here. Deadline for nominations is July 15!

In August and September the citizen jury will evaluate the projects and score them. As a jury member you will be responsible for researching and scoring a maximum of fifteen projects. You can do so at your own pace and in a closed intranet. The open call for jury members ends on July 31. Please click here for more details.

All 80 finalists, their political peers, jurors, partners, journalists, special guests and members of the general public will gather at the awards ceremony in December 2018. Click here if you want to know more about the 2017 ceremony.

At the site of the initiative all finalist of 2017 are showcased in the showroom. Scroll the examples in all eight categories and be inspired to nominate your example or become a juror.
